This Is Our Home – A Homeowner Manifesto

This Is Our Home

A Homeowner Manifesto

The American Homeowners Association Declaration of Strength and Unity

From the very beginning, home has been at the heart of the American story—a place to call our own, to lay our heads, and to house our families.

To own a home is to have a safe haven—a foundation of security, stability, and protection. But today, that safe haven is under pressure.

For too many, homeownership has become not a reward, but a struggle.

The Reality We Face

Every year, the cost of homeownership doesn’t just rise—it soars. Not because homes have changed, but because the system is becoming more expensive, more complex, and harder for the average homeowner to navigate.

  • Insurance premiums climb higher, while coverage shrinks.
  • Mortgage lenders stack on hidden fees, turning fine print into financial traps.
  • Crappy contractors overcharge, cut corners, and disappear when things go wrong.
  • Property taxes inflate, yet the services we rely on seem to vanish.

Homeownership is the cornerstone of financial security for millions of Americans, but rising costs and a lack of transparency are making it harder than ever to protect what we’ve built.

We are told this is just the way things are. That we must accept it. That we are alone.

But we are not alone.

Who We Are

We are homeowners—millions strong. We are the backbone of America.

We believe in fairness, accountability, and transparency—values that benefit not only homeowners but also the businesses, industries, and policymakers who serve them.

We know that strong partnerships between homeowners, businesses, and local governments can create solutions that work for everyone.

Real Voices, Real Struggles

“James Borow, a homeowner in Pacific Palisades, California, lost his fire insurance when major insurers pulled out of high-risk areas. Just three months later, his home was destroyed by wildfire while he was away on business. Forced onto California’s Fair Plan, his premiums skyrocketed by 400%, leaving him struggling to afford coverage.”

“Katherine Little, an 81-year-old homeowner in North Carolina, experienced a devastating sewage flood in her home, causing extensive damage. Despite the severity, her insurance claim was denied, with her insurer covering only $10,000 of the $63,000 needed for repairs. Her story is a stark reminder of the growing gap between what homeowners expect from their insurance and the reality they face.”

“Homeowners nationwide are grappling with skyrocketing property taxes and ‘phantom costs’—expenses that go beyond the mortgage, including insurance hikes and maintenance costs. Many are caught off guard, struggling to stay afloat as the American Dream of homeownership becomes increasingly unaffordable.”

What We Stand For

  • Fairness – Homeownership should not be a losing battle.
  • Accountability – Policies and pricing should be clear and justifiable.
  • Transparency – No more fine print, hidden fees, and unclear pricing.
  • Collective Power – When homeowners come together, we can shape the future of homeownership.

Our Mission: Take Back Our Power

  • No more paying whatever they demand without understanding why.
  • No more fighting claims and bills alone.
  • No more tax hikes with no accountability.
  • No more getting ripped off by shady contractors.
  • No more feeling powerless in our own homes.

For too long, the system has been difficult to navigate. For too long, we’ve been told we have no choice.

But today, that changes. Today, homeowners unite.

Our Movement, Our Voice

We are the American Homeowners Association—a movement by homeowners, for homeowners.

We are building the largest collective of homeowners in the nation—a force that works toward collaborative solutions with businesses, insurers, lenders, and policymakers to create a homeownership system that is fair, sustainable, and beneficial for all.

We are here to advocate for fair pricing, honest policies, and the right to own and protect what is ours.

Because when we stand together—we are strong, we are heard, and we can create change.

This is our home. And it’s time to take control of our future.
